The 10 foods that are most fattening
Eating a healthy diet does not have to consist of permanently removing fatty foods or foods with higher amounts of calories from the diet for a while and then consuming them again with little control, since this will not help in the long run. The ideal is to accustom our body to eat healthy and reduce the foods that can be most harmful so that our body is the one that asks for a good diet and does not have that constant need to eat badly.
In short, it is good to take into account which are the foods that make anyone fatter the most due to their components in order to reduce their consumption in the diet and try not to become something common in our meals . Therefore, the ten foods that lead to gain weight more easily are:
- Soft drinks : Although their consumption is very common and habitual, the excess of sugar in these soft drinks is not beneficial for health or for those who want to lose a few kilos or reduce the consumption of calories since they tend to gain weight. Even so, it must be taken into account that by drinking one nothing will happen since it will be with an abusive and routine consumption of them when these negative effects begin to be noticed. In addition, the nutritional value of these soft drinks is not high so there is really no good reason to make a high consumption of them. However, many people opt for light or zero sugar soft drinks that, although they provide less energy, also have much less sugar.
- Pasta with seasoning: On several occasions you hear phrases like “Pasta makes you fat” or “Pasta at night is not good.” However, the main problem with pasta is not the pasta itself but the sauce or seasoning that goes with it. So a pasta dish with a splash of oil won’t make you as fat as a carbonara pasta dish would. For this reason, it is recommended to reduce the consumption of pasta of this type to avoid getting fat and look for other alternatives that may be just as satisfactory for those who consume it. For example, instead of eating pasta with canned tomato, mash natural tomato.
- Fast food: It is, as its name suggests, junk food or fast food. This category includes dogs, hamburgers, batters, pizzas … They are usually foods that can be purchased at a reasonable price in many fast food restaurants but have a large amount of fat and calories . For this reason, it is recommended to avoid its consumption and to do so, not in a common way. It is important to follow this advice not only to avoid gaining weight but also for health reasons.
- Sausage: Bread and sausage in a perfect sandwich is one of the habits of those people who have less time to cook during the day, and yet one of the most to be avoided if you want to lose weight and not continue to gain weight. And, although it is not bad to eat sausage from time to time, it has many calories and is excessively fattening . It is recommended to substitute certain sausages such as chorizo, fuet, mortadella, etc., with some such as turkey, cooked ham …
- Buns and chocolate: If, in itself, homemade pastries are something that, due to the ingredients used to make them, makes them fatter, how can industrial pastries not do it? The truth is that these rich and tempting sweets are a calorie bomb for the body of any person and it is one of the first things that is stopped eating in a diet since its amount of sugar and fat is totally harmful to the body and anyone’s physical. Similarly, chocolate is another of the prohibited foods in the diet and even more so if it is white chocolate, the one that contains the most fat compared to milk chocolate and pure chocolate.
- Frying: These foods, whatever they are, are battered after being fried with oil . For this reason, its consumption is one of the worst options since it is one of the most fattening. The oil used to make them makes the food greasy and increases its caloric intake.
- Nuts: Although their consumption provides many benefits, it is good to control it because some nuts can have a large contribution of calories and it is not good to become fond of them since they will end up taking their toll. This is the case of hazelnuts, walnuts, etc.
- Butter: This food is part of the group of saturated fats and its consumption should be limited if you do not want to gain weight. It is recommended to cook with a little drizzle of oil rather than with butter.
- Processed juices: These contain, as previously mentioned with soft drinks, a high level of sugars and therefore calories. It is recommended to opt for the natural and consume or pieces of fruit or juices squeezed naturally.
- Cereals: Its consumption in excess causes weight gain . It is recommended to change this type of food for oats or seeds.
I began to be interested in nutrition from a very young age (I am currently 25 years old), but it was not until adolescence that I knew that I would dedicate my life to this career. I am the mother of a beautiful 5-year-old girl whom I adore and plan to instill in her all the values that guide us towards a healthy and balanced life. I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, where I currently live, and have my own practice where, of course, I practice my profession as a nutritionist.
